Strong and relatively soft fibre blend with a bit of texture. Perfect for shawl and garments etc. The fibres from the flax plant are called linen when they're spun into yarn. They have a light brown colour to them and are very strong. They add some texture to the yarn spun from this fibre.
It's also a fibre that doesn't feel too soft when you first hold it, but it gets softer and softer everytime you handle it. After you've spun singles, you'll notice with plying that it's already softened up a bit. Then, when you take the plied yarn off the bobbin, it's softer yet. And then when the yarn has had it's bath, it's even softer. And the knitted/ crocheted/ woven fabric will be softer and softer after every washing! :)
This fibre blend is fun and interesting to spin. The flax can be a bit tricky in the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually very fun, nice and easy to spin. My tips for spinning this blend: 1. pre-draft the fibre! 2. Flax has a long staple length, so place your hands wide apart whilst you're drafting!
